The Alabama Gulf Coast Oyster & Seafood Festival is excited to announce the largest and only event celebrating and promoting the Gulf Coast Oyster. The Alabama Gulf Coast Oyster Festival is planned for November 6th - 8th, 2009 inside the setting of the beach town of Orange Beach, Alabama. The citys sea side setting provides festival attendees with the freshest oysters, shellfish and seafood straight from the Gulf. This event is set to help rebuild the economy through the establishment of a new tradition. The Alabama Gulf Coast Oyster Festival is a four day festival that prides itself in offering non imported, local & fresh seafood vendors. The festival features live music on all four days, plus art vendors, craftsmen, beer vendors, kids area, fresh seafood, oyster eating contests, home brewing demonstrations and an assortment of food from a variety of regions. The Alabama Gulf Coast Oyster Festival & Brew Fest is honored to be ranked as one of the top events for the state of Alabama. This years festival is executed as the biggest and best Oyster festival within a five state region (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana). Combining great food, great music and life moments, the Alabama Gulf Coast Oyster Festival is a must attend event. The entertainment stage offers a diverse mix of musical genres and regional acts from country, to bluegrass. Additionally, the festival offers fun contests which include, a sing off, an oyster shucking contest, a recipe cook off and of course, an oyster eating challenge. The festival layout features three tents that include an Oyster Education Tent hosted by the Auburn Universitys extension program. The educational tent highlights and presents oyster facts to attendees. The second tent is a Brew Fest tent that is provided by the beer sponsor and will feature local brews & beers, home brew workshops and taste areas. The final tent is a kids area that features childrens activities. The kids tent is open from 10am-5pm each day of the festival. The artisan & craftsman area will feature a mix of artists, organizations and businesses. The main area is comprised of food vendors which will serve delicious oysters, shell fish, seafood and traditional festival treats for attendees to try. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. The Alabama Gulf Coast Oyster Festival momentum continues to grow. Planning for this years event is currently underway. The subject matter of the work ranges from the well known "Cosmic" images, to his famous iconic paintings, such as the "Statue of Liberty," and "Flag with Heart" and the newest edition, the portrait of President Obama. With paintings on exhibition in hundreds of museums and galleries worldwide, Peter Max and his vibrant colors have become a part of the fabric of contemporary culture. Often incorporating iconic symbols of America into his work, Max has painted for five U.S. presidents, created the official artwork and poster for the Clinton Inauguration, his "Flag With Heart" impressionistic paintings of the American flag are in permanent installations in the Carter, Reagan and Bush presidential libraries in addition to his statue of Liberty paintings, which have become an annual painting tradition since America's Bicentennial, in 1976 and led to Max playing a lead role in the renovation of the Statue of Liberty.
