Closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. The trail begins at Smith’s and follows city sidewalks, the Arroyo del Oso and paths around the Albuquerque Academy. During this hike you will have spectacular views of the Sandia Mountains and the Albuquerque Academy, a prestigious private school for grades 6-12, which has a beautiful campus. The trail around the Academy is a popular walking and jogging trail for local residents. Be sure to carry water and use sunscreen, as the hike elevation is above 5000 ft.
