Please join us for an evening of fine art with artist of the month, Carol Kent.

Information about the artist:
Born and raised in Jackson MI, many of Carol's creative years were spent knee deep in the dirt. As a Landscaper she sculpted the earth. On paper she planned color, texture and visual flow. Her drawings were accurate, creative and colorful but had no depth. Yet once guided by these drawings, her ideas became reality. Trees and flowers were planted, stones were arranged and her art came alive. A joy to view, to touch and even walk through.
The year she turned forty, a knife was put in Carol's hand and there she found a means of artistic creation that touched her as neither pencil nor paintbrush had. And so she began to whittle. After about a year she took a two day workshop taught by a master carver you approached carving as an art form. After two days with this woman, Carol realized she wasn't just good at carving. She has a gift.
In the years since she has continued to develop this gift, participating in local, interstate and international competitions (winning numerous awards at all levels, and seeking out teachers wherever she can find them. Since the gift in her hands emerged six years ago, her skills have been honed by personal contact and numerous work shops. Some of the people she has been most influenced by and studied under are Vic Hood: master artisan, Bill Snow: master stone carver, Peter Roman: artist, Joyce Kent: artist, Jim Slack: artist, Janet Denton Cordell: woodcarver, doll maker, personal mentor.
