Are you interested in using your artistic skills for social justice? Design a poster around the theme “IMAGINE A WORLD WITHOUT VIOLENCE” to help increase awareness of the need for healthy relationships in the home and throughout our community. This contest is open to all Hernando County middle and high school students between 8th and 12th grades. Create an original poster on 8.5” x 11” paper with an artistic design and/or text message that conveys a message encouraging people to work toward healthy relationships and stop violence of all forms before it starts. Your creation can focus on a general anti-violence theme or be focused on one specific type of violence (such as physical or emotional abuse, sexual violence, bullying, teen dating violence, elder abuse, child abuse, cyber-bullying, etc.). Write your name, the name of your school, your grade and age on the back of the poster and turn it into the school administration office by January 15th. All entries become the property of the Dawn Center and may be used for future marketing purposes. Winners will be announced on February 1, 2009 through various channels. The first place winner will win a new savings account at Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union with a starting balance of $300. November 28 at Kalihi Waena Elementary School (1240 Gulick Ave.) This is a great opportunity to get rid of all those recyclables that we let pile up around our houses - tires, batteries, old computers, cell phones, etc. KAUPA will receive the proceeds from any scrap metals that are recycled (old washer, dryer, stove, car parts, etc.), so bring them on down! We also receive proceeds from cell phones, printer catridges, of course HI-5 recyclables AND cooking oil... so any of you that deep fry your turkey!! Get your holiday cleaning done and bring all your recyclables to Kalihi Waena. If you live in the Kalihi area, we will even come and pick this stuff up from your house. Jack Cole knows about the war on drugs from several perspectives. Cole retired as a Detective Lieutenant after a 26-year career with the New Jersey State Police. For twelve of those years Cole worked as an undercover narcotics officer. His investigations spanned the spectrum of possible cases, from street drug users and mid-level drug dealers in New Jersey to international "billion-dollar" drug trafficking organizations. Cole ended his undercover career living nearly two years in Boston and New York City, posing as a fugitive drug dealer wanted for murder, while tracking members of a terrorist organization that robbed banks, planted bombs in corporate headquarters, court-houses, police stations, and airplanes and ultimately murdered a New Jersey State Trooper. After retiring, Cole dealt with the emotional residue left from his participation in the unjust war on drugs by working to reform current drug policy. He moved to Boston to continue his education. Cole holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a Masters degree in Public Policy. Currently writing his dissertation for the Public Policy Ph.D. Program at the University of Massachusetts, his major focus is on the issues of race and gender bias, brutality and corruption in law enforcement. Cole believes ending drug prohibition will go a long way toward correcting those problems. A national and international speaker, Cole has taught courses to police recruits and veteran officers on ethics, integrity, moral decision-making, and the detrimental effects of racial profiling. He has spoken about drug policy: in colleges and universities; on many radio programs; and at conferences across the United States; and he has addressed the European Parliament, in Brussels, Belgium, on the subject of US drug policy. Cole is passionate in his belief that the drug war is steeped in racism, that it is needlessly destroying the lives of young people, and that it is corrupting our police. Cole's discussions give his audience an alternative perspective of the US war on drugs from the view of a veteran drug-warrior turned against the war.

We are here to “Enforce” not to “Inquire.” Currently the state of Alabama is funding the Judicial Inquiry Commission (through the taxpayers) who is made up of judicial bodies; lawyers, judges, court staff, friends, etc. They only inquire about judicial complaints that are made to their office about Alabama judges.
