Description: We.The.Children. Project presents, In honor of our troops and in the spirit of
giving back to the student youths of San Antonio: Winter Wonderland Hollywood Holiday Kick-Off Party!
This holiday season we would like to give something back to a part of our country that has been a central military training locale, with a deep history of support and devotion to the United States military troops.
We.The.Children. Project is a philanthropic business model that creates opportunities for communities to get involved with important issues relevant to our economic situation and current world events. Our goal is to aid those who are in need and raise public awareness about important topics of concern. We.The.Children. Project has been inspired by the continued call for action by our Commander in Chief, Barack Obama. Our main philanthropic focus is to promote fostering an education system characterized by an abundance of smiling faces during one of the most difficult economic climates to date.
We are excited to present the community of San Antonio, Texas with an opportunity to celebrate this holiday season in philanthropic spirit. We.The.Children. Project has designed an exciting Black Tie event: Winter Wonderland Hollywood Holiday Kickoff Party to bring the community together through good cheer and humanitarian service.
We are excited to bring a little taste of Hollywood to San Antonio and aid the We.The.Children. Project in creating awareness about the importance of fostering education for our youth.
Our event will, further, be in honor of our dedicated service men and women at this prestigious holiday gala.

Description: Jack Cole knows about the war on drugs from several perspectives. Cole retired as a Detective Lieutenant after a 26-year career with the New Jersey State Police. For twelve of those years Cole worked as an undercover narcotics officer. His investigations spanned the spectrum of possible cases, from street drug users and mid-level drug dealers in New Jersey to international "billion-dollar" drug trafficking organizations. Cole ended his undercover career living nearly two years in Boston and New York City, posing as a fugitive drug dealer wanted for murder, while tracking members of a terrorist organization that robbed banks, planted bombs in corporate headquarters, court-houses, police stations, and airplanes and ultimately murdered a New Jersey State Trooper.
After retiring, Cole dealt with the emotional residue left from his participation in the unjust war on drugs by working to reform current drug policy. He moved to Boston to continue his education. Cole holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a Masters degree in Public Policy. Currently writing his dissertation for the Public Policy Ph.D. Program at the University of Massachusetts, his major focus is on the issues of race and gender bias, brutality and corruption in law enforcement. Cole believes ending drug prohibition will go a long way toward correcting those problems.
A national and international speaker, Cole has taught courses to police recruits and veteran officers on ethics, integrity, moral decision-making, and the detrimental effects of racial profiling. He has spoken about drug policy: in colleges and universities; on many radio programs; and at conferences across the United States; and he has addressed the European Parliament, in Brussels, Belgium, on the subject of US drug policy.
Cole is passionate in his belief that the drug war is steeped in racism, that it is needlessly destroying the lives of young people, and that it is corrupting our police. Cole's discussions give his audience an alternative perspective of the US war on drugs from the view of a veteran drug-warrior turned against the war. |

Description: Rocco Leonard Martino, Ph.D., local author and entrepreneur will speak about his latest publication, “Cancel Christmas!” on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. in the Social Room, Fournier Hall. The lecture is sponsored by the College’s Business Department.
“Cancel Christmas!” (Infinity Publishing, 2009) looks at the intrusion of government on the lives of people, using the example of government canceling the Christmas holiday due to the influence of a powerful, greedy businessman’s whim. “Cancel Christmas!” is about character, and the conflicting emotions and forces that permeate human life - greed, fear, love, tradition, duty, and conscience. Following the lecture, Dr. Martino will offer a Q&A session and will sign copies of his book, which will be available for purchase.
“I wrote this book to be an important message for people who cherish freedom and tradition,” says Martino. “I chose storytelling with humorous interludes to present a gripping possibility. “Cancel Christmas!” will make the reader laugh and also angry. The idea presented in the book could happen. Greed, ambition, and the misuse of taxpayer money are nothing new. This book depicts the classic struggle between might and right; and between raw power and thoughtful evaluation.” |
