Violinist George Shiolas, flutist Abigail Mages and recorder player Joan Clymer will perform a variety of classical and folk music at the Tigard Public Library on Friday, December 4 at 7 p.m. The performance will feature music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Arcangelo Corelli, Thomas Morley, Sergei Prokofiev and Eugène Bozza. It will also include folk songs from Japan, Israel, the British Isles and the United States.

Shiolas is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music. He has been a soloist with many orchestras, including the Oregon Symphony, and has released three solo recordings. Flutist Mages graduated from the New England Conservatory and has performed frequently with Shiolas throughout the United States. Joan Clymer is a longtime musician and music educator.

The Tigard Library will offer computer classes in December to help people save time and money during the holidays. “Excel-ing at Shopping” will teach people how to use an Excel spreadsheet to make a handy shopping list to budget and track gift spending. A second class, “Cool Cards and Neat Nametags,” will provide instruction on designing nametags and greeting cards using Microsoft Word. Classes require only basic skills in Excel or Word software.

“Excel-ing at Shopping” will be held: Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10:30 a.m.-Noon Monday, Dec. 7, from 7-8:30 p.m. (Spanish translator available)
