Description: Jeffrey Terreson: “One” Fine Art Event and Sale
30 New Paintings and Select Prints
Bedford Historical Hall
December 4th, 5th and 6th 2009
October 14, Bedford, NY: Bedford Historical Hall will be the setting for the upcoming event - Jeffrey Terreson: “One” Fine Art Event and Sale – featuring 30 new paintings and select prints by award winning Bedford raised artist Jeffrey Terreson. Ralph Lau-ren, one of the many collectors and admirers of Terreson’s work, recently purchased a painting from his Equestrian collection, part of the selection of art featured in the show. The event dates and hours include: Friday, December 4th 4:00 – 10:00pm; De-cember 5th 10:00am – 10:00pm; December 6th Noon – 6:00pm. Guests are invited to enjoy music, wine and refreshments while browsing the artwork and meeting Jeffrey Terreson. Free and open to the public. Bedford Historical Hall is located at 608 Old Post Road Bedford, New York. For directions, call (914) 234-9751. For information about Jeffrey Terreson, call 914 772 6570 or log onto www.jterreson.com
Jeffrey Terreson was raised in Bedford, NY. Exhibiting a remarkable aptitude for art at an early age, it was clear to Terreson, his teachers and family, that art would be his life. He earned a four-year Merit Scholarship to the Columbus College of Art and De-sign, where he graduated at the top of his class and received his BFA in 1976. In 1977, Terreson was invited to participate in an internship with several top artists in America including Robert Heindel and Mark English. Heindel's paintings became the source of tremendous inspiration in Terreson's career.
Returning to New York City, Terreson began his career as an artist. For many years, he painted and supported himself through his fine art illustration. His artwork was pub-lished for several Fortune 500 companies including Mobil, IBM and NBC as well as the United Nations and the PGA. His art also appeared in nationally published peri-odicals including Time, Newsweek, National Geographic, Readers Digest and many more.
After a great deal of success as a fine art illustrator in the New York, Terreson decided it was time to take his art in a new direction. Putting aside what he was taught, he re-lied more on his own connections to the creative process. In doing so, he became in-fluenced by modern contemporary painters - Johns, Schnabel, Steers, Joan Snyder, Rothko, Warhol, Poons, Leroy - and many others. It wasn't to long before he discov-ered his own direction by letting go. He has not looked back.
Terreson currently works in a Neo-Impressionistic painting style while embracing the textures and abstract compositional elements popular with many contemporary artists. He continues to explore his original roots as an oil painter while constantly looking to integrate elements of mixed media.
In 2005, Terreson was presented the National Award of Excellence, American Juried Art Salon. He also won an Award of Excellence for Tuscan Sangria (mixed media) in the national, juried competition
Describing his creative process, Terreson explains, "Ever since I can remember, de-sign and color have been my touchstones. It is where I begin, and the guide I consult to the end. Design is the core of all my work; the very center of my initial connection. The creative impulse grabs me at any moment of the day. Always ready. Eyes trig-gered. It is a beloved curse. I could be inspired by an obscure image from nature, how the sun hits a shape, or the angle of a shadow, the isolation of nature in its environ-ment, the natural graphic, a design in a single rock, tree, water, person, or shape. Whatever it is, it becomes alone in place, framed by its setting."
His work is in numerous public and private collections throughout the United States, and his paintings are available in select galleries. For more information, log onto www.jterreson.com

Description: Judith Wright Centre, 26 November
Put your best foot forward in the media to get your message out there.
Whether you’re in the arts, entertainment, health and wellbeing or humanitarian and cultural sectors, this hands-on workshop will teach you how to build your audiences with effective media coverage. Using your own projects combined with the guidance and expertise of Trudy Johnston, you will learn how to: devise a media strategy; write effective media releases; pitch to the media; prepare for an interview and much more.
“Trudy’s workshop is what all small businesses looking to tap into the lucrative exposure of media should do. A workshop worth every cent invested.”
Nils Vesk, Entrepreneur and Director, Nils Vesk Pty Ltd.
“So good to get a really practical checklist to work from, I feel much better equipped to start presenting myself to media and industry. Before the workshop the task would overwhelm me as I floundered wondering where to start. I know where to start now.”
Edwina Blush, Performing Artist.
“The content of the workshop can be applied to far more than the arts. These are skills that I can use in marketing my business ideas, through to promoting a new series of paintings. This workshop will be invaluable as I transition from business to art over the next years.”
Mary Borland, Manager.
As well as running TJC, Trudy Johnston has lectured in arts marketing in the COFA Masters of Arts Administration course and is a regular presenter for the Australian Business Arts Foundation.

Rick Stevens- Invoking the Unknown: New Abstract Works
Opening cocktail reception: Friday, December 4, 2009 5-8PM
Gallery KH is pleased to present Invoking the Unknown a rich collection of new abstracts by artist Rick Stevens, opening December 4 through February 22, 2010. An opening night cocktail reception is scheduled for Friday, December 4, 2009, 5-8PM.
“We are thrilled to be hosting Rick Steven’s new show as his work reverberates with so many people in such an intense way. His abstracts are mysterious yet uplifting, and this collection of new works will not disappoint his followers and new patrons alike,” says Shannon K. Rather, Gallery KH Assistant Director.
Rick Stevens paints with a language of sensitive expression that is supported by a romantic spatial organization. “I admit to being a romantic,” says Stevens. “A sense of mystery feels more real to me than something easily defined.” The seemingly randomness of nature is the backbone of Stevens’ compositions of form and color. Stevens continues, “I build from the principles I have learned painting landscapes to arrive at imagery that, however non-objective it may be, is pervaded by a unifying light source. I need the seemingly random order of wilderness to find the poetry for my work. It is the lifeblood of my art.”
About Gallery KH
Located in the heart of Chicago’s River North Arts District, Gallery KH presents an outstanding collection of significant contemporary artists working in a variety of styles and media. For further information on any of our artists, please visit www.gallerykh.com or call 1-312-642-0202. |
